The events,  that between September 1943 and mid-August 1944 featured Salerno as the protagonist of the Allied landings and then as the capital of liberated Italy, are now, after a long process of research and classification, the subject matter of an exhibition that aims to become a museum, the memory of an entire area. The project has a didactic purpose based on cultural heritage and the educational function of museums. There can be no better way to learn about the events of history than to bring them life in the first person, giving people the possibility to see and touch the exhibits and to listen to the sounds and voices of history.

The museum wants to provide adults with an opportunity to recall events experienced personally or by their families. For young people, especially for students, it is a chance to discover that museums are not only deposits of documentation but are above all places of memorabilia.. Unlike most of the educational resources used in schools, the object of this museum is real and authentic, it fascinates, it can be touched, it provokes a respectful awe for these war relics and a close analysis of historical facts.

The Campania Memorial Park Association is recommended to all Italian and foreign educational institutions that promote school tourism. It also offers archive documents for students and scholars who are interested in widening their studies about this particular historical period.
